Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has brushed off fierce criticism following his side’s crushing defeat at Anfield, insisting he’s unfazed by the reaction to their lacklustre performance.
Spurs, who held a 1-0 advantage heading into their League Cup semi-final second leg, were completely outclassed by a ruthless Liverpool side, suffering a heavy 4-0 loss and crashing out with a 4-1 aggregate defeat.
Former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp didn’t hold back in his assessment, slamming Tottenham’s display as one of the most dismal he’s seen.
“From Spurs’ perspective, I cannot remember a team in my lifetime going down with less of a fight as they did today,” Redknapp remarked, calling the performance “horrendous.”
While Postecoglou acknowledged his team’s shortcomings, he made it clear that outside opinions won’t rattle him. Spurs are also enduring a rough Premier League campaign, sitting 14th in the table, adding further pressure to their season. However, the Australian manager remains focused on turning things around rather than engaging in the debate over his side’s failings.
